Exciting milestone for the #aware.hiv project!

 

Together with our  colleagues from Amsterdam UMC, the #aware.hiv team has successfully adapted the national guideline for cervical cancer to include an essential HIV testing recommendation. Cervical cancer is a recognized HIV indicator condition, but its guideline lacked a specific HIV testing recommendation until now.

Timely diagnosis of HIV is crucial, as late diagnosis is associated with higher comorbidity, mortality, and hospital admissions. Moreover, identifying HIV infection in patients with cervical cancer improves the outcomes of their cancer treatment.

This significant step will help improve early detection and treatment, ensuring better health outcomes for many.
